Warm Beginnings

After much thought and planning, we decided the one thing our puppy nursery was missing was an Incubator and Oxygen concentrator for the puppies first few weeks of life. With the puppies coming very soon I decided we needed these as soon as possible, and I was pleasantly surprised that they arrived only 4 days after I ordered it. Set up was super easy and the peace of mind this device offers outweighed the cost

The number one cause of death in puppies is cold. Puppies are unable to regulate their own body temperatures in the first few days after birth and need a good source of heat (usually Momma) and getting cold can be detrimental to their health. Neonatal puppies are born wet and lose body temperature due to evaporation as soon as they are born. Their internal body temperature is critical to effectively process colostrum to develop a stronger immunity system.

Our Nursery is temperature controlled, and the whelping boxes have floor heaters for the puppies. Newborn puppies need the about 90 degrees of warmth to thrive during the first week of life, and while they usually get this from momma, we felt that it would be helpful to have this controlled environment to use as a puppy holding area while momma is delivering another puppy, and for when we need to clean the whelping boxes.

We chose the PuppyWarmer Incubator and Concentrator. These incubators feature infrared heaters and encased isolation. The oxygen concentrators filter out nitrogen from the ambient air with a molecular sieve and deliver 90% oxygen to the incubator at puppy-safe flow rates, that along with adding humidity to the air to prevent dehydration.

Oxygen combined with precise heat is a great way to give newborn puppies the best start in life.
